I am disappointed with a lot of people today including myself.

I have spent most of this year buying my bunny overpriced medication. Numerous times I discussed with my vet regarding cutting cost. Yet it seems to go on death ears.

I asked if the medication could be mixed at Wal-Mart. A technician at the vet office said I could not go to the pharmacy at wal-mart due to flavoring. I did not think much about it and dropped the questions.

I was sent to diamondback pharmacy to pick up sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim for $70 (30 day supply) and enrofloxacin for $45 (15 day supply).

These past three months my vet kept prescribing the enroloxacin for 15 instead of 30 days. This time around I asked for a 30 day supply due to not wanting to make two trips a month. At the pharmacy they only charged me $30 for the enroloxacin for 30 days.

I paused confused why a 30 day supply was cheaper then a 15 day supply. They made me spend an extra $50 a month! I asked the pharmacist why the cost was different. I was given a bullshit excuse about the expense of the bottle. Yeah okay now!

I bought the meds because my bunny needs the medication. I then had to go to Wal-Mart for grocery shopping. I decided to stop by the pharmacy and show them the medication. Everyone in the pharmacy told me I was being royally fucked and that most people with pets are due to the lack of understanding that you can buy the same medication at a regular pharmacy. The only difference is there would be no flavoring. Which is fine, because no bunny likes medicine no matter how much chemical banana flavor you put in it!

I am so mad at myself for waiting so long. There were questions I should have asked. I am also mad at the vet and pharmacy because they make it you have to ask a question fifty different ways just to get the blunt answer we all want to know. YES YOU CAN BUY ANIMAL MEDICATION AT THE REGULAR PHARMACY FOR $7/ 30 DAY SUPPLY.

What should I say to my vet tomorrow? I am so upset. It is a struggle to buy his medication. I do it because I love my rabbit and when I bought him I was making a commitment to love and take care of him no matter what.
