Hello. I'm new here.
I was going to post a fairly detailed introduction, with mentions of my experiences with bunnies and information about my current bun, but I've been side-tracked by the need for advice.
Buster (blame the 8 year old) is a 4-ish month old, mixed breed bunny. We've only had him since Saturday, but he's been outgoing, friendly, personable and apparently fearless since the moment we first laid eyes on him. His previous owner got him a good bit along the way with litterbox training, and definitely socialized him well. He loves to hop into laps and just absolutely soaks up attention.
Therein lies the problem. If he is out and one of our cats dares to even get *near* my lap, he lunges, growls and bites at them. He hasn't actually done any serious injury yet, but he drew blood this last time and it's seriously starting to worry me. Obviously he's going in to be neutered (appointment is made), and I need to work on it behaviourally, but I honestly haven't got any clue how.
Help?
