so, we'd been thinking about getting a friend for Ned to perhaps cure his antisocial ways. i'd been looking online and the at the local humane society but nothing really caught our attention. we went to an animal supply store and fell in love with a baby albino bun, but we wanted to think about it.
we ended up not getting the albino, but today when we went to go pick up a corner litter box for ned, we were looking at the other buns and played with one we had overlooked before. he's a one year old male, already neutered, and loves pets and cuddling. he was surrendered by his previous owner who couldn't take care of him, and kept getting passed up in favor of the baby buns, but he's so sweet. so $100 later, we came home with Bobby. we're thinking about changing his name to Baxter, and keeping Bobby as his middle name.

eating hay and disapproving at the same time.

his ear always is flopped over.

Ned: this earned him the nickname "anus mouth"
we brought him home and set up his cage, and then left to go get some more supplies. when we came back, he started racing around his cage, kicking up his litter, and then he thumped. Ned has never thumped, so we couldn't help but pull out the camera. soon after he was done thumping, he came out for cuddles so i think we're forgiven for abandoning him.
he's settled in quite well and is already coming out of his cage on his own/begging to come out, and grooming my pants and sweater. his poops are a little weird, but we're hoping it was just the shock of environment change -- he was only getting hay in the morning (because apparently he eats it until he gets sick. maybe he doesn't know when to stop?) and eats half a cup of pellets every day, and we bought a couple toys and snacks that they said he liked best. he's such a sweet little boy, i'm in lurve.
