Dog? What dog? This? Oh, this is my bed! No dog here officer! I hope you find him...

Bunny Flop + Dog Flop = Much floppy cuteness!

Ooh, she moved!

Smirnoff asks Sparky for head rubs and gets sniffed instead!

And just so we don't forget the incredible cuteness that is Bruiser...

In other news, Smirnoff has turned out to be all I wanted and more for Bruiser! After 2 years of hutch living (apart from when he escaped) and hardly any human contact (other than being chased and caught after escaping) Bruiser has become a very timidlittle boy. Which is a shame, as when he was a baby he was amazingly friendly and would fall out of his hutch in his hurry to get to you when you opened the door.

When I bought him to uni with me he would hardly leave his cage, even though the door was almost always open and would definately not come up and say hi to you.

Then I got Smirnoff, who is the bossiest, nosiest, most demanding bunny I have ever met! And Bruiser adores her.

Yesterday morning, as I was lying in my bed I felt a bunny jump onto my feet. I looke up, expecting Smirnoff and saw Bruiser instead! He has never been up on my bed unless I've put him there! As soon as he felt me move he jumped and ran back to his cage again, but it's a start...

Then this morning I woke up, fed the bunnies and went back to bed for a little while as I always do. When I got up again Bruiser started folowing me around my room. Everywhere I went he was hopping along behind me. So I amused myself for 5 minutes walking backwards and forwards across my room with my little bunny shadow.

Then he started binkying around my room. Whilst him binkying isn't unusual he normally does it early in the morning when my light is out and he thinks I'm not watching. He normally stays either in or near his cage as well. And this morning he was all over my room whilst he knew I was there!

Of course, as soon as I got the camera out to film him he stopped...

But I'm so, so ,so happy! My little boy is finding his confidence again.

Baby Video

Here is a video of the baby bunnies I posted pic of ... yesterday. :D Anyways, please ignore the voices in the background, none of them are mine ;P And the paddlock that you can see in the background I picked up right after this was taken, just in case people were going to comment about that. I mean, I swore it was on the shelf. I guess it got nocked off. ANYWAYS: enjoy, and thanks for all your comments on the photos. :D

Now, for the most part, I've heard that everyone's buns hatehatehate linoleum, tile, porcelain (in the case of bathtubs) and other slippery surfaces. My little bun, Henry seems to have an affinity for such places. Every time I let him out he'll go tearing around my apartment like a madman and run into the kitchen and sliiiiiide across the kitchen floor. I can also hear him quite regularly jumping into my bathtub and scampering around doing, what sounds like, a million little binkies (of course as soon as I walk over to check on him he sits in the tub giving me the '...what...?' look like I just walked in on him with a lady-friend.

Anyone else's buns love slippery surfaces?? Or is my Henry just a little weirdo.

Hey, my name is Hayley. I'm 22 years old and live in Canada. My bun's name is Poppy and she's 8 years old and I've had her every single one of them! She's the sweetest little girl and although stubborn, she's a doll and a bit of a diva!

I kind of have an important question. I'm planning on getting a second bun and I want Poppy to feel comfortable and still loved. She's been the only bun we've ever had and while I wasn't planning on bonding them (the prospective other bun is a male), I think I may have to so that she at least tolerates him. Her happiness is what I am most concerned with. She's an older bun and unspayed and I don't know if I should be introducing a new friend to her. I love her so much and I've been wanting a second for awhile.

I know it may take some time for her to get used to the new little guy but I'm wondering if this is okay to do with her age and all. I think it should be, but my parents and brother aren't so sure. Do you guys have any advice for me? I take Poppy out everyday and I'm not going to stop giving her the attention she deserves. I love rabbits as evidenced by my post and I have lots of love to share! Poppy's happiness is of the utmost importance. Do you think it's workable so she at least doesn't act out (after the beginning)?

yeah, i have what may seem to be a dumb question... my bunny cassius (whose ears have now lopped, haha) has eaten a substantial amount of my kellogg's frosties. he's now running around like a wingnut much more so than he did prior to eating my cereal. is this a normal reaction to sugars? how do i get him off the taste of sugar cos he's not eating his food.

thanks for any advice you guys could give me!

BABIES!! :D

I took some photos of the 2/3 week old baby bunnies on our farm. Both of their parents are meaties, so they are fully white right now, and they will get their black soon. They are so adorable! :D

There is six of them, and they are so cute. We went up and saw them when they were pinkies, but didn't have my camera with me.

They are just learning how to walk, and they kind of just ... flail around

They haven't opened their eyes yet, except for one.

This is Momma B, who seemed quite conent to let us take care of her babies for a while. She poked her nose up just to make sure we still had them, and then went and flopped in a corner.

This is the only one with it's eyes open, and only one eye was, so it looked like it was winking. ;)

The sleeping one didn't seem to notice his brother flailing all over his face.

Sleep time.

They were so soft and light, it felt like you weren't even holding anything.

This one is like a little loaf-ball. Adorable. :D

Thanks,

Jeanne. :D.

I know this probably isn't a big deal to anyone else, but I just wanted to post because I am excited!

Mac finally started coming out of his cage on his own! It was always so stressful to him when I picked him up, so I put the cage on the floor (before, it was on this rolling ramp thing.) I would leave the side door open for hours, but he never seemed interested in coming out. I was letting him hop around the living room tonight, and he kept going back over to his cage and leaning in. I helped him back in, then left him alone. After a bit of trial and error on his part, he's is now jumping in and out of the cage like it is the most fun he's ever had! He seems to have calmed down a lot. He also seems more interested in us. He will cautiously come up to us a sniff a bit. He still gets a bit skittish if we try to pet him while he's out of the cage, but I can already see an improvement.

These were taken a day or two after bringing him home. We didn't have a litter box at the time, so we just put Carefresh all over the cage. Now he has a kitten-sized litter box that he uses.

For some reason, it looks like there was a flash on the camera, but the living room light is just bright. Mac always seems to have that wide-eyed look.

What has now been dubbed the "Mac flop":

Photobucket

We all love when he does it. He'll usually give a big giant yawn and do that bunny flop where they splay their legs out. He loves it because he wasn't really allowed to do that at his old home. He started off as a show rabbit, and for a while he was always in the show position. Now he just flops :)

Also, I am taking him to the local SPCA either this weekend or early next week to get neutered.

Are essential oils dangerous for rabbits to inhale or use on their fur?

A week ago I read a book regarding different use for essential oils. One of the chapters talked about rubbing eucalyptus oil and some other oils in the fur could help with their respiratory issues. Personally it sound like a stupid idea since rabbits is always licking themselves. Would use of a vaporizer with pure eucalyptus essential oil be okay? All my rabbits have flare-ups in the cold months, so any little extra things I can do to help them would be nice.

Here's my love... 13Lbs of bossy bunneh girl... But we do love each other, just I need to love more than she is supposed to... (Nudge-Nudge, Pet me!)

First of all, I am posting this for a friend. I do not condone her actions, nor do I control them.

That being said, my friend has a younger rabbit that's a couple of months old. He has diarrhea. In her words, "he is pooping, but it is completely runny." She feeds him the right stuff (I asked) and she's not sure what prompted this. He's not eating, but he is drinking water. She can't get him to a vet until the end of the week (some sort of combination of time/location/money?). Is there anything she can do in the meantime to try and help make her bunny better?

Thanks!

Hi everyone! An aquaintance of mine can no longer keep her bunny due to graduating, land lord issues, etc.(shame shame) so I am going to be adopting him. As you may or may not remember, my little Truffle was spayed about 2 weeks ago. She is a six month old small dwarf-lionhead. New bunny is a 9month old mini lop, not neutered. A couple questions: will the size difference (i know it's not THAT much, but still a difference) affect their potential bonding? Also, should I have new bunny neutered before even beginning to introduce him to Truffle, and leave them in side by side cages with seperate playtimes? Or totally seperate?

Thanks all!

Intro Post!

Hi folks, I'm new to the community!  I have had my 3-year-old black satin bun, Oliver, for about two weeks now, and so far being a bunny mommy is just as fantastic as I had hoped!  I adopted him through a rabbit rescue near my hometown, but since he's been here he's had no problem asserting the fact that he's the man of the house.  I'm really pleasantly surprised at how affectionate he is - whenever I give him free roam, he hops right over and sticks his nose under my hand (shame on me for leaving a bunny head unpetted!).  He eats greens right out of my hand (he's a little fatty - ten pounds!) and tolerates being held.  He's a little devil though, his favourite thing to do lately is to try to get into all the areas I've blocked off.

Here's a picture of my little man at his foster home a few weeks ago (can't get good pictures of him at my place:  dark rabbit + dark carpet + cell phone cam = bad pics)

Awww isn't he a cutie?

I'm looking forward to meeting you all and your buns!  Have a great day!

@темы: поилка

Hi Guys! I've been having the hardest time trying to find a vet in Berlin who will fix Bandita. Apparently, in Germany it is not normal to have female rabbits fixed (or so the local vet told me). Has anyone else experienced anything like this? If I can't get her fixed will it be very bad for her health? Has anyone else not been able to go the neutering route and if so have you had any problems because of it?
