16 of the 20 Columbia Basin pygmy rabbits released in the Sagebrush Flat Wildlife Area were killed by predators. 2 others, both males, wandered outside the study area and were re-captured, leaving only 1 male and 1 female in the wild which have bred successfully. More pygmy rabbits may be released in the area this fall.
